Sneak Peak

I worked all day yesterday on the bathroom! Hard labor was interrupted only by the gym, cooking, and eating. There were many MANY speedbumps along the way, but here is a sneak peak!

It is not 100% complete yet. My shelves did not work out, so I still need to find art for above the commode. I also need some simple decorative towels and a new trash can. I decided not to repaint it. Instead, I just washed the walls!

I did it all by myself, too! :-D

And in case you forgot, here is where it all started... YIKES!

I love it. You didn't have to strip the vanity before you restained it? How does it absorb into the wood with the sealer on? I'm getting ready to refinish a coffee table, nightstand and dresser. I would love to get some tips.

Hi!! Nope, no stripping, staining, nothing. :) I used Howard's Restor-A-Finish. I applied most of it with a cloth, but the deeper scratches required application with steel wool. It was a really simple process! I guess the Restor-A-Finish can get through the sealer. I finished it off with a coat of Feed-N-Wax. It protects it and shines it right up.

There are still blemishes on the vanity, so it doesn't look perfect... but it does look good, yet distressed. I like that look, so it worked fine in this case. :)

Here is a link to the Howard's stufff: http://www.howardproducts.com/restora.htm

If you have any more q's about it, just let me know. :-D

I should definitely try it. I just went to Lowes yesterday and spent a bunch of money on a sander! Does the feed and wax coat leave a shine? I am looking for a non-shiney sealer.

It isn't super shiny. The more you put on, the shinier it gets. :) It's kind of like lotion for wood! LOL!

Genie, it looks great! Amazing what a few new sinks and clean walls can do!!!
My mom always made us wash the walls in our house when I was little. I thought it was so stupid, till I looked at my dirty rag! Whowouldathunkit?
