Thought this was hilarious, so I had to share!! Ignore the incorrect "your".

Orange

Orange ya glad it's Friday?

TGIF Bloggerfam!!

I had to quickly snap a pic of the food I packed this morning. It made me giggle -- everything was... ORANGE! I apologize for the poor pic quality. My digital camera was dead, and I made due with my crappy camera phone.

I must say, I have totally fallen off the wagon. Last week I went to the gym one time. I was battling the stomach flu most of the week! Then KY Muscle rolled around, so I didn't work out.

This week, I went to the gym hoarse on Monday, thinking it was just the traveling, but it really was an awful cough/cold. I'm still on the mend.

I am making tomorrow my FRESH START! I know, kinda crazy with Turkey Day around the corner, but I need my mojo back, and gosh darnit, I want it back sooner than later. Even if I am still sick tomorrow, I must do something active. MUST!

I'm also thinking some kind of challenge between Thanksgiving and Christmas would be fun, right? Kick start to the New Year? I don't know... just tossing out ideas (and trying to avoid work).

Have a fabulous weekend!! I've been a poop head all day, but I'm going to have FUN after work. Greek pizza and Guinness at one of my favorite joints! WOO HOO!

Guess Who's Back?!

Guess who's back. Back again. Genie's back. Tell a friend.

BWAH! I am running at about 80% today... I'll take it! WOOT! Energy is great (yesterday I was a lethargic piece of poo!), my throat still hurts a bit, and congestion is still slightly present... but whatevah! My cardizzle has been lacking, but today I managed to do slow jog + walk intervals. I felt like I climbed Mt. Everest... except I wasn't tired, hungry, delirious, or cold when I finished.

Just out of sheer boredom this morning, I took pics of my eats for the day. My carbs are low until Saturday, so that's why it's mainly veggies. I love my food, and here lately, I have been loving coconut oil more than usual. I need to use other fat sources, but this is oh-so-tasty! *smacks lips* nomnomnom.

Pre-Cardio Snack:
1/2 Slice Ezekiel, Coconut buttah oil

Post-Cardio Snacky-snack:
Egg whites
(I bake several batches of these at a time in mini-loaf pans, and they fit nicely in my Ziplock snack bags)

I LOVE YOU:
Maragogype Coffee, sipped throughout the morning.
Dontcha love my cock cup? Hahaha

Meal 1:
Chicken, zucchini, yellow squash, and cucumbers topped with coconut oil and smoked sea salt.
Love the smoked sea salt and coconut oil combo! EFAs on the side (not pictured)

Meal 2:
Chicken, green beans, coconut oil, and smoked sea salt

Meal 3:
Tilapia and coconut oil under a mound of coleslaw mix, topped w/ sweet and tangy mustard.
The slaw mix was on closeout for $.50! I snagged up the last two bags. I've been eating it all week. Sick. Of. It.

Meal 4:
Chicken, green beans, coconut oil, and smoked sea salt. AGAIN!
I love it! With a side of creatine and glutamine (pre-workout)

Meal 5:
In the crockpot: Pork tenderloin topped with an array of spices...

with a side of asparagus drizzled with olive oil and topped with... you guessed it, smoked sea salt, and broiled until wilty and brown in spots... my favorite way to eat veggies! slightly charred!

Meal 6:
Protein shake w/ lots of ice and water! A side of fish oil caps (not ALL of these, sheesh!).

I have my trusty dijon and hot sauce on standby for all meals... except the protein shake -- that's just gross! ;)

WHOOPIE! Under construction!

This is what I worked on Saturday and Sunday. LOL! I probably ate about 5 or 6 of these suckers. Unfortunately, the recipe is on hold until I can tweak it more after prep. I have to lay off the dairy, as it does not agree with me. It sure was fun while it lasted. :)

Wordless Wednesday - Happy birthday to me!

This is how I roll...

I heart my Planner... prep style

It looks innocent enough, right?

Notice the tabs... maybe it isn't normal...

Yes, it's beat up. This planner is probably 5 years old. I'm too cheap for a new one. LOL!

It's official folks. I am a certifiable dork.

128.6 – Menu Planning Monday and More

Heya folks!! Shooo, this weekend was a busy one. I spent so much time organizing. FUN STUFF! I really do enjoy it, and boy oh boy did it wear me out.

First things first… Menu Planning Monday!

Monday: Chicken, broccoli, baked potato (me), fried mashed potato patties (DH) using leftover mashed potatoes and Italian bread crumbs… this is an experiment. LOL!

Tuesday: Crab Muffins (leftover from last week… I made ½ the recipe as crab cakes and half as muffins), salad

Wednesday: Sloppy Joes (on a whole grain English muffin for me, DH gets his beloved buns), green beans, baked beans (DH)

Thursday: Fish of the day (Mahi Mahi), baked potato, salad

Friday: Chicken, pasta salad (I may have another carb source), broccoli

Saturday: Pizza Night!! Homemade, of course. Choose your own toppings! J

Sunday: Taco night, using shredded pork. Served buffet style! Fun! (This also helps me prep veggies for the week, since I like to keep a salad tray filled for convenience.)

Weekly Recap

Last week was smooth sailing!

It really couldn't have gone any better! I hit quite a few PRs in the gym, survived the ranging hunger from hormonal bliss (ha!), and even dipped down to the lowest weight of this prep yet… albeit by .2 pounds. Yes that is POINT two pounds… 2/10, 1/5, whatever. It's still a milestone, even though there is no reason to celebrate just yet.

Week of 07-26-09 to 08-01-09

Weight Loss: 3.2 pounds

Weekly Goals

I'm going to keep most of last week's goals rolling. They were just what I needed.

** Drink 150+ Ounces of Water Daily

** Abs 2x

** Diet and Training 100% on Point

** Two Scoops of Protein Powder Supps/Day Maximum

** Run/walk 3x (as part of triathlon training) NEW!

**Yoga 1x NEW!

**Pilates 1x NEW!

**At least 5:00 stretching after every lifting session NEW!

I've been thinking, not only do I suck at endurance, but my flexibility is L A C K I N G majorly! So, starting slow, I want to incorporate yoga, and I want to finish off each workout with AT LEAST five minutes of stretching. I always enjoy stretching, so dammit, I gotta just do it.

Motivation

For all you Virgos out there, here's today's horoscope. I get these in my inbox daily from www.tarot.com. I get a kick out of reading them, sometimes they are silly, sometimes they are eerily on point, but today I found this one highly motivating! That's why I'm posting it here. J

Monday, Aug 3rd, 2009 -- Your key planet Mercury is now at home in your sign, raising the bar on perfection even higher than usual. The messenger planet remains in critical Virgo until August 25, setting you up for success if you can achieve excellence. But you also can be disappointed in yourself if you fall short of your unrealistic expectations. For now, trusting both your perceptions and your logic will steer you in the right direction. Weekend "fun"

It is amazing how bare the cupboards and refrigerator looks once everything is organized! Sheesh! And yes, I keep junk food and packaged products in the house. Don't hate. hehe

The sad part? We JUST bought groceries. Wow. Seems so empty! I apologize for the crappy pic quality. I get a little pic happy w/ my cell phone! LOL!

What else did I do?!

I tried to tackle this monster. YIKES!

My dad was kind enough to dump a lot of boxes on us several weeks ago before he moved. I guess we will be having a yard sale soon. I don't know what to do with it all. This was our first weekend home, (for me… hubby has been on summer vacation), and this has all just been sitting in our basement… and weighing heavily on my mind. I hate messes like this!

See that big ol' mirror propped up against the wall? That little cubby is where I usually practice my posing and walk... but it's blocked right now... another reason why I gotta get the basement cleaned up! :)

Does anyone have any tips? I hope to finish organizing and cleaning it up by the end of next weekend. It is a bit overwhelming. A lot of it is childhood stuff that I hate to throw away/sell/donate… a lot of it is old décor that was my mom's stuff before she passed… it's sentimental stuff like that that I really don't know what to do with… Ideas?

Alrighty, I have rambled enough. Let's make today a great one!

PS - I promise this blog looks pretty when I hit preview, but when I "Publish" it all gets jacked up! Very very frustrating.

129.8 - Thirsty Thursday - Sugar Free Margaritas!

It's Thirsty Thursday! WOO HOO! I want to share with you my favorite "diet" alcoholic beverage. Of course, these can be made non-alcoholic as well and are mighty mighty tasty! Introducing *drumroll please* Sugar Free Margaritas by Baja Bob's! Just add booze (optional), water, and ice and you have a delicious, festive beverage without all the guilt! I plan on indulging in one or two (non-alcoholic) this weekend! You know I add my tequila in the off season, though. ;)

My favorites are:

Bob's Wild Strawberry Daiquiri & Margarita Mix is so berrylicious he couldn't risk getting stuck without his own personal stash when traveling. This 60 gram powdered packet makes 1/2 gallon (64 oz.) of mix.

Simply mix with water and then add Rum for a delicious Strawberry Daquiri or with your favorite Tequila for a Strawberry Margarita.

ZERO calories and ZERO sugar per 4 oz. serving! *

Makes TWICE the amount of mix for the same cost as other brands.

Sweetened with Splenda. Other sugar free mixes are made with erythritol or aspartame, which have an aftertaste and can have a laxative effect. Bob says: "That's just not right."

Baja Bob listened to all of your requests and created these portable packets that you can take wherever you go! Each box comes packed with 10 single-serve packets. Use one at a time or all 10 to make a batch for your guests. Simply...add water and tequila. Try substituting club soda for a refreshing non-alcoholic calorie and sugar-free mango soda. Either pour into glass filled with ice or blend with lots of ice to make slushy. Just $4.49 per box!

Let Bob break it down for you: ZERO calories per serving! * That's right, ZERO! The average sugar-loaded margarita mix can run over 250 calories per serving!

Definitely check them out! They are SO good!

FITNESS

This morning I checked my ego at the door... or shall I say the foot of my bed, since I did cardio in my basement. The plan was to pick up the Spark your way to a 10k program over at SparkPeople (LOVE THIS SITE!). Anyways, my legs were like lead this morning and tonight is legs day! No way was I running 3 miles! This program is designed for someone who can easily run 3 miles. I, on the other hand, am enduranced-challenged. I decided to back on down to the Spark your way to a 5k program. It was a great call. I warmed up with a brisk 10:00 walk, then ran my half a mile, and finished up with incline walking. I actually felt GREAT! not tired. I am now energized and my legs are feeling like they had a wonderful pick-me-up this morning. So YAY!

As you can see, the scale bumped up a smidge. Have no fear! 'Tis a bit of hormonal bloat. I can definitely deal with the .4 pound increase. ;) Not too shabby.

FOOD

The diet was a struggle yesterday. Hunger was a'raging, but I pulled through. I had nagging cravings for chocolate, icing, ya know, the sweet stuff! the STRONG sweet stuff. LOL! But, we all have days like that. Sometimes you just have to suck it up! although sometimes this seems impossible ;)

Also, I know that many of you have requested my blueberry muffin recipe... It is STILL in the works, but I'm hoping to make some minor tweaks this weekend for the BIG REVEAL for next week's Tasty Tuesday. I'll be making these muffins every weekend until I get it right! LOL! I'm determined to get this recipe to you all. ;)

FUN

I finally have hubby excited about fixing up the house! WOO HOO! I've done some minor home improvement DIY type things (the main bathroom is a work in progress, and I installed a digital programmable thermometer), but I haven't done much. Seth is very frugal (thankfully!), so I always feel a little guilty fixing things up. These things aren't that cheap. Now we will start budgeting for it. I am so SO excited!! Of course, I'm going to scope out the deals and try to do as little financial damage as possible!

Here's an item we have on the way... A new chandelier for the eat in kitchen area. Our old (and ugly) hanging light broke (yay!), so this is a forced upgrade. This area of the house has a warm goldeny paint job (not our doing, but I have grown to love it!), as well as a very rustic feel. I think it will look fantastic!

I would like to paint or get a new chandelier for the formal dining area as well, but that will just have to wait.

I'll be sure to post upgrade pictures as they occur or upon completion. :)

MAKE TODAY COUNT!

FITNESS

Well, I did it. I woke up and actually ran… at a snail’s pace, but I did it! And it actually felt kinda sorta good. ;) I ran 2 miles. Now, I know that doesn’t sound like much, but we all gotta start somewhere, right? I first wanted to do the Couch to 5k plan on Cool Running, but, honestly, I have started that damn program a handful of times, and I never ever finish it. I get B O R E D. So, I hopped on over to SparkPeople, took a gander at some of their running programs I had saved from 2007 (no joke! LOL!), and then opted to do their 10k running plan. I originally thought I would do the 5k running plan, but I didn’t want to start with a ½ mile run. There are also walk/run programs on pages linked. Fun stuff!

ALSO, wooty woo, I managed to crank out some 60# DB bench presses yesterday. That is 60# per arm, so a total of 120… 120 on a BB is old news for me, but I’ve never tried to bench that heavy with dumbbells. YAY!

MORE FLORIDA FUN - DAY 2

WARNING: To say we got a little intoxicated this day would be an understatement. Early morning storms led us to the bar before noon. We are rebels, I tell ya!

Innocently, we started off at a car show.

which led to a bar... or two.

Then we went back to the room and cleaned up!

Water Taxi Ride:

PIMMMMMP!

>

Seriously. This is a house.

Check out my new friend. At this point, I was back to sober. Unbelievable.

Best. Food. Ever.

Hubby accidentally orders a $120 bottle of wine. LMAO. He doesn't even like wine much. Best damn wine ever!

On the way to the Pirate Bar. ARGH! This place was the shizz! We got to listen to Sublime all night long!

Uhm. Tanked.

Oh yeah.

BWAHAHAHAHA. This cracked me up.

Does anyone else have problems with Blogger formatting things all funky, or even losing formatting code? URGH!
